The environment is a hot topic at the moment and people are constantly being encouraged to try and help save the environment in any way possible. This can be achieved by a number of ways such as ensuring you do not leave products such as televisions on stand-by.

Another way is to ensure you car is “green” and energy efficient. There are a host of sites that give you ideas how to save energy and money and one way most of them give is by having energy efficient home appliances.

Home appliances are easily taken for granted but you quickly realise how much you rely on them when one of them breaks. Tumble dryers are very important especially during the colder months as hanging your clothes outside is not really an option and as the alternative is to hang them round your house on the heaters can make your house untidy, a tumble dryer can be extremely useful.

Shopping for household appliances is not likely to get many people excited but like products such as insurance and utilities it is something that can be made easier by shopping online. To be energy efficient you need a tumble dryer that is in categories A-C, categories go up to G but you want to avoid these dryers as they are not only bad for the environment but they may be more expensive and not as reliable.

Money is tight for a lot of families at the moment so it is important that you find the best deals around. The same goes for other household appliances such as washing machines and dishwashers, some see certain household appliances as a luxury but if they make our lives easier in times of stress then they are a good investment. As long as you look after them by cleaning and maintaining the parts you should get a good amount of time out of them.

People are advised to shop online to find the cheap tumble dryers as you can compare the different types. Make sure your tumble dryers are in working order to avoid extra costs.

TUMBLE DRYERS

This is an invaluable addition to any home appliance or “white goods” list because of the weather we can not always hang clothes outside for

most parts of the year -that is where this unique invention comes into its own.

The basic workings are universal to all tumble dryers:

Air passes through the machine and is warmed at high temperatures rotating the air over the spinning clothes in the drum.when the temperature reaches a

set requirement then the hot air is expelled through a vent to the outside of the house by way of a hose.

The filter in the machine traps the sttic “fluff” that is given off by the clothes, which prevents build up of fluff and leads to a blockage in the air vent

The automatic thermostat switches the heating element on and off depending on the set temperature.

In some machines you wil find certain features;

REVERSE TUMBLE ACTION:Where the drum has the ability to spin in both directions thereby drying the clothes faster.

CREASE GUARD: This is to do with the rotational speed of the drum at intervals-reducing creasing of the clothes.

Care and maintenance:

1.Clean the filters regularly to avoid large build ups of fluff which will eventually reduce the machines efficiency.

2.Clean the drum with a wet cloth after you finish drying

3.Clean the rubber door seals to stop them from getting black mould stains on them-dry with a soft cloth.

SPOTCHECK:

1.Has the filter been cleaned?

2.Is the door closed properly?

3.Are the hoses straight and not bent?

4.Is the machine switched on? can you see the neon light on?

TROUBLESHOOTING:

machine not tumbling

faulty drive belt-replace or call the service engineer

noisy machine

1.coins or objects in the drum-remove and test

2.worn bearings-call a service engineer

cannot switch machine off

1.ther could be a faulty switch or timer-try spraying maintenance spray around the control knob and wait for a few minutes-then try to free the control knob

if that does not work the you need to have it replaced-call a service engineer.

machine not heating

1.faulty thermostat-call a service engineer

2.faulty heating element-call a service engineer

3.wrong timer settings -chech the timer selector of the machine.

musty and warm air coming back into the room

1.air vent blocked or leaking and split vent hose-check the condition of these and replace if necessary.

clothes still wet or damp

1.the air around the machine is not circulating properly-check a.the filter b.the condition of the hose

c.check the outside grilles to make sure they open and close properly.

2.overloaded machine-remove some of the clothes and start again

3.sogging wet clothes were put into the machine-wring out clothes before inserting them into the machine.
