How do I get something out of my dryers lint trap?

I have a whirlpool dryer with the lint trap on the top. When cleaning my lint traps filter, a sponge fell down in it. Then when trying to retrieve the sponge a screwdriver fell into it. If anyone knows how to get these items out please let me know. Thanks
