Simplicity asked:

but this is the rain season. I put the clothes over the couches to dry, which take about two to three days. Does all this drying have any bad effect on the fabric or couch sponges (Mildew, bacterial growth etc.)? Does the water evaporate from the clothes into the air or does it sink into the couches? I haven’t found anything but I was warned not to do so.

An ebay link to one that would be ideal if you can hang them up inside and save your bathroom or something like that would be ideal if you have somewhere to one.

i would not dry them over the sofa. put them on a hanger, and hang on a door knob, use the hangers with the rotating hook and hang over the doors or, over chair. go to walmart and buy a metal or plastic clothes hanger for over your door that accommodates four or five items, for under $5.
