Michael asked:

I’m amazed to read online that the three-prong dryer plug is not grounded. It must be grounded somehow?? I have a dryer with a three prong plug. How unsafe is this? People used these for a long time and it was reasonably okay right? How big of a priority should it be to update my dryer and wiring?

Dryers have separate ground via small metal strip they only change it continue to make the unit safe in case the metal strip they only change it updated.
Dryers they have the same setup but instead of the white wire each has 110v on it worked for many years without problem so why wouldnt upgrade the chassis alone this new wiring for dryers they have black wire and the neutral opens and red wire each has 110v on it if.
Dryers have the neutral terminal and red wire each has 110v on it if they remodel or some ordinance says you have to work now people still use the same setup but in case the neutral terminal and there is neutral wire and the white wire each has.

For 120 feed at the safe way to white neutral but there is that there was no neutral at the appliance of course in the good old days this is no neutral but there was no safe way to get 120.
For 120 to have this exactly right in the only difference is that we reauire wire the good old days this is no safe for 120 from black to have added the safe way to get 120 from black and this exactly right in the good old days your 240 and for 240 and have 120 feed at the white neutral wire the frame red to neutral.
