So there you are, sitting in your local laundromat watching some shopping-cart-lady-kleptomaniac rifling through the dryer that your clothes are in and then suddenly it all comes to you at once. Thats it! You are going to finally fix that whirlpool dryer that you bought at a yard sale, that has been gathering dust on your back porch.

New Online Sources

There is one problem however and that is that the last time you tried to buy the parts for it at the local appliance places, all that you got was sales pitches on a new dryer and the complete run around. However; the good news is that that was then and this is now because now there are several online sources for new, as well as used Whirlpool dryer parts.

Get the Part and the Model Number

Before you order online though, you have to get both, the model number and the part number. The model number will usually be somewhere on the dryer and if it isn’t, you can locate it at the GE company website. The same goes for the part number, if it isn’t printed directly on the part.

Take Extra Care

Save every screw, nut, bolt, washer and gasket in bags with notes explaining just where they came from. Also, write down your own custom directions for putting the dryer back together, as you are taking it apart. Remember to take extra care when removing electrical parts, not to tug on wires.

Reduce Your Carbon Footprint

You may want to take the option of buying used parts for your Whirlpool dryer. It will save you money and after all, by now the rest of your dryer is made up completely of used parts anyway. Also, buying used parts when you are repairing anything in you home is a good way to reduce your carbon footprint.
